An international workshop to discuss better protection for asylum seekers continues in Jakarta today, with Indonesia and Australia due to discuss the Abbott government’s policy of turning back asylum seeker boats on the sidelines.

Indonesia yesterday called for politics to be taken out of the approach to asylum seekers, urging its neighbours, including Australia to share – not shift – responsibility.
