Skills shortage prompts call to lift immigration intake (CIN)

A leading advocacy group is urging the federal government to boost Australia’s immigrant intake by more than 15%, with a particular focus on skilled migration.

The Australian Industry Group wants the government to increase immigration numbers from 190,000 this financial year to 220,000 in FY2015 in order to meet current and future skills shortages – preventing a shortage of about 2.8 million skilled workers within a decade.
